The University of Cambridge is a world-leading university which Equans successfully bid to manage their facilities.

The bid needed a unique brand to sell to the client, taking into account Equans recently rebranded look as well as Cambridge's storied history.

I worked as part of the team which created this bid, predominantly with the packaging design as well as the illustrative assets and the client presentation collateral. The designs went through a number of iterations, early meetings with the bid manager made it clear they had a particular look in mind which we had misjudged to start with, but at the time the freshness of Equans brand made us hesitant from straying too far from it.

After some internal ideation, we developed the below brand, focussing on creating a net zero, recyclable bid which would still have a sense of occasion and carry the themes which the bid manager wanted to highlight. I liased with printers extensively on the bid box, designed to mimic a building on the universities campus and worked with them to source sustainable alternatives for items such as pens, glossy paper etc. Then another member of the Equans design team worked on the main document, ensuring we kept consistency through the designs.

The client loved the design of the bid and though the box was designed to be recycled, the last we heard he'd taken it home with him and one of his children was using it to store his pens and pencils! It was a great team effort which exemplified the best in working through a collaborative design project.
